New Project

Over the Easter weekend, a new project has emerged. I (Chloe, the newest member of the team) have been kindly donated some small baseboards to have a bit of fun with and learn a few things about model railways along the way. I have very limited knowledge so far other than helping with a few creative bits on Ditcheat Junction (like painting back scenes and adding horses to fields) and how to spend plenty of money on locos that look nice!

The baseboards are Micro Layout Baseboards in a box from Scale Model Scenery which fit perfectly into 22L Really Useful Boxes. You can find the baseboards here if you want to give them a try yourself. The vision for this new project is still very unknown at the moment so the plan is to work on one board at a time until I finally work out what the final look will be.

Along with the boards I was donated a prebuilt bridge which is the only known thing on this layout at the moment. The bridge is a single track Occupation Bridge with Stone Abutments from Wills Kits (PECO) that has been painted and the kit can be found here. The bridge will be the base of the single track that will run across this first board and will have a river that runs under it.

I knew that I was going to need to build a hill either side of the bridge so I got a fellow member of the team to laser cut me some pieces of ply that would help me form my hill. These were then glued and pinned to a small piece of wood to be used as a guide for structuring my hill. For this first board I made 4 of these, one for each end of the board and one for either side of the bridge.

Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on the progress of this exciting new project. There is many more things on the to do list!!
